In which I discuss five things making me happy today:
Snow – I am admittedly NOT an outdoor girl, ever. I enjoy attempting to camp every once in a (great) while, but it’s taken my entire life to embrace that it is perfectly okay to be an indoor person, and I can finally stop feeling senseless guilt about preferring a stick in the eye to a day at the beach. The snow this week has been absolutely beautiful. I love watching it float outside our huge picture window, blanketing the dreary world in pure magical calm. If the sun wasn’t blazing I would even be tempted to go for a walk.
Contagious Spirit – Although Lane never stops making noise, his goofy carefree spirit makes me very happy. He is never short on smiles- or mischief- and his happy heart can be quite contagious. He also received a haircut, bath and nail trimming today putting him back on the ‘No, I am not an orphan’ side of things.
Mawage – “And wuv, tru wuv…” I am so happy to have the support, attentiveness, concern, love, laughter and real partnership in life with Cheney. This weekend successfully recharged all that the weekdays often sap out of everyone. He also made a fabulous dinner and did the dishes – how can one not be happy?
Fireplace – I can, and most often do, sit in my living room alongside the wood burning fireplace. The crackle and pops, mesmerizing flames and glowing warmth provide unending calm and comfort. I doubt I will ever be able to live without a fireplace again.
Gabbing – I never stop missing my far away friends and family. So a phone call from a best friend is a treasured gift, no matter how brief the call or what the content. I also look forward to when Cheney and I can talk non-business, ie NOT school, work, finances. This is typically either late at night when we really should be sleeping or early in the morning before someone small slunks his way out to the couch (Blanket, Bubbles the Fish and Snippy the Lobster in tow), and croaks out a request for Fruit Loops and Cartoons.
